Blondes have more fun . . . and these Loaded Blonde Brownies (aka "Blondies") are no exception! They are soft, chewy, full of nuts, and loaded with chocolate.
Usually I would consider myself to be a brownie lover, but these Loaded Blonde Brownies are quickly becoming a favorite!
What is a blonde brownie (aka “blondie”)?
A blonde brownie is basically a brownie with vanilla used instead of chocolate. While the flavor of brownies comes from the chocolate, the flavor for blonde brownies comes from brown sugar mixed with the butter – which gives them a delicious butterscotch-like flavor.
For this recipe, do not substitute margarine for the butter or your blondies will not turn out the way they are supposed to.

How to Make Blonde Brownies? It’s So Easy!
These bars only need one bowl to make and can be thrown together in about 5 minutes. These blonde brownies turn out soft and chewy every time. You will want to be sure to not overbake them – they are meant to be a little gooey in the middle.
I love making bar cookies like these blondies because you don’t have to scoop each individual cookie out – just press the dough in a pan, bake, and cut into bars.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
I usually mix my dough in a Kitchen Aid, but you can also use a large mixing bowl and mix it by hand. Cream together butter, brown sugar, and sugar until light and fluffy.
Then add in eggs and vanilla and beat well.
Gradually add in flour, baking powder, and salt and mix well.
Then fold in chocolate chips, white chips, and nuts.
Place into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan, and spread evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes. They should be golden brown. Cool and then cut into bars.
Light brown sugar vs. dark brown sugar
While both light and dark brown sugars are a mix of sugar and molasses, dark brown sugar has more molasses and a deeper, stronger flavor.
For this blonde brownies recipe, I used light brown sugar because that is what I had on hand. Dark sugar will work great for this recipe as well.
What makes these blondies loaded?
For this recipe, we loaded these blonde brownies with macadamia nuts, white chocolate chips, and milk chocolate chips. You can use as much or as little of the mix-ins as you want, or switch them out to make them your own!
Other mix-ins you could add to these blondies:
- toffee bits
- walnuts
- butterscotch chips
- Craisins
- M&M’s
- peanut butter chips
- Reese’s Pieces
- Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter cups

Can I make these into bites with a mini muffin pan
-
Cyd says:
We have only made these in a 9x13 inch pan, so not sure how they would turn out in a mini muffin pan.

Thank you

Prettypendants says:
Tried them, and the taste is so YUM! But it's way too sugary for my taste!!! gosh, water is needed after only one bite!! ;-) Next time I will rather use dark low-sugar chocolate chips and only a few white chocolate chips. And do you think you can skip the white sugar and keep only the brown one? Thank you in advance. A French passionate baker

Either will work just fine. We used light brown sugar.

Hello, I’m having trouble understanding the difference in white chocolate chips and white premier morsels. Is there a difference?
-
Cyd says:
Just the white baking chips on the baking aisle by the chocolate chips. Nestle White premier morsels are perfect!
-
Tabatha says:
Not sure how these are going to turn out. I followed the recipe exactly but the batter is SO thick there will be no pouring it in the pan. Also the pan seems huge for the amount of batter so I'm taking a chance and putting it in an 8 by 8. Does any of this sound normal? I'll give it a wurl!

Amy says:
Yesterday was National Blonde Brownie Day... the majority of people I asked at work didn't even know what they were. So, I made 3 different batches (one per the recipe, one using chocolate chips and butterscotch chips, and one using chocolate chips and Heath bar pieces), they were literally all gone by noon!
-
Cyd says:
Oh my gosh! I want you as a coworker!! What a fun day full of delicious blondies!!
-
Paula says:
These are so good! Easy to make. I left out the nuts, but still yummy!
