In Loving Memory of
Laura Mary Willison

February 26, 1948 - April 8, 2024

We are so grateful for the wife, mother and
grandmother we were given on this side of eternity:
a woman marked by gentleness, kindness, and
faithfulness. Her joy and smile lit up a room.
She was a mentor, coach, and rock in times of need.
She spoke with wisdom, persevered at all times and
served others before herself. She left us far too soon
and will be missed beyond words by her husband,
3 children, their spouses, and 9 grandchildren.
See you later, Mom.

Funeral details to be announced at a later date.

Judy Brinkmeier <![CDATA[DiscoverHumboldt.com Funeral Announcements (6)

Judith Lillian Brinkmeier
January 2, 1945 – April 13, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Judith Lillian Brinkmeier, 79 years of Humboldt, announces her unexpected passing on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Regina General Hospital. Judy was born in Humboldt on January 2, 1945, the first child out of 13, to Henry and Agnes (nee Steil) Wiegers. Her family lived on a farm 5 miles east of Burr. Judy attended Banner School from grade 1 to 8, and then attended high school in Muenster. Judy then stayed home to help work and support her parents with their large family. Later, she worked for Sasktel in Humboldt, for 6 years. On November 18, 1967, Judy married her soul mate, John Brinkmeier, at the Assumption Parish in Marysburg. This union was blessed with 5 daughters. Judy was very involved on the farm and in the community with John, while raising and supporting her daughters in all their activities. She may have been little, but she was mighty, and she was able to whip up a big meal in no time after a long day in the garden or taking care of her family. She was a very organized and productive woman. As the girls grew and left home, she worked at St. Elizabeth’s Convent from 1991-2001, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. In 2007, Judy and John retired to Humboldt, and spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona, and summers at Greenwater Lake, with family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her mother and sisters on their annual trip to Weyakwin Lake. She very much enjoyed any time she spent with friends and family and loved having a good laugh. Judy was never too busy to be the first one to volunteer at the church or curling rink in Marysburg, and always made time for a visit over a cup of coffee with friends. Judy loved gardening and her flowers, especially red roses. Her passion was collecting hundreds of angel figurines, filling her home and yard. Her down time was spent reading, playing scrabble online, doing sudokus and crosswords, and putting jigsaw puzzles together. Family was always her number one priority. Judy stayed very connected to her parents, brothers and sisters, as well as her in-laws. Her world became complete as each grandchild arrived. Judy thoroughly loved spending time with them.

Judy will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, JOHN Brinkmeier of Humboldt, and their five daughters and five grandchildren:

Dawn (David McKee) Brinkmeier and son, Andrew Rowan; all of Saskatoon, Step children Jolyne McKee of Fort McMurray, Adam and Steph McKee, and daughter Finnley of Saskatoon;

Kathryn (Kevin Olson) Brinkmeier and daughter, Jordan Kulbida, all of Saskatoon;

Karyn (Ryan) Knelsen and children, Jaylen and Claire, all of Meadow Lake;

Karla Brinkmeier (Jeremy Cane) of Saskatoon and his daughter Porter;

Amanda (Shaun) Diehl and son, Jaxson, of Warman;

Her siblings: Donald (Norma) Wiegers of Saskatoon, Elaine (Jim) Zubot of Edmonton, Marge Copeland of Saskatoon, Rita (Jerry) Winacott of Weyakwin, Leslie Wiegers of Edmonton, Clarence Wiegers of Saskatoon, Frank (Mary) Wiegers of Denare Beach, Mary Ellen (Ivan) Hein of Saskatoon, Melvin Wiegers of Duncan, Kevin Wiegers of Edmonton and Lynn (Jozsef Kovacs) Hackl of Duncan;

Brothers and sisters-in-law: Norman Brinkmeier of Saskatoon, Jeanette Gessner of North Battleford, Fran Yuzik of Saskatoon, Loretta (Murray) Loehr of Muenster, Terry Struck (Dan Steiner) of Humboldt and Marie Timm of Dryden, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy was predeceased by her parents Henry and Agnes Wiegers; brother Henry Wiegers; two brothers-in-law: Alvin Gessner and Willard Struck; her parents-in-law Louis Brinkmeier and Freida Brinkmeier Frank and step father-in-law, Louis Frank.

A Funeral Mass for Judith was held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. from Marysburg Assumption Parish, celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy and Fr. Lawrence DeMong OSB. A Memorial Luncheon was held at St. Augustine Parish Hall following the Mass. Interment will be held at a later date in Marysburg Assumption Parish Cemetery. Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 He will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 Nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
then a thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For He will command His angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways’
12 They will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will treat on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer Him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.

Don was bornMay 31, 1936, in Lake Lenore, SK to Walter and Hilda (Miller) Schemenauer. He grew up on the family farm near St. James. In his youth he was known as an exceptional baseball player. Don had the opportunity to try out for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the United States but his dad wanted him to stay home and farm so that is what he did. OnMay 28, 1962, he married Audrey Fyhn in St. James Church. Together they farmed and raised their four kids on the family farm Don had grown up on. In 1999, they sold the farm and retired in Humboldt. In 2010, Don discovered he had an adult son named Alvin Hebert. He enjoyed getting to know Alvin and his wonderful family. Don would often remark that he sure wished he would have known him longer.

Don loved hunting and fishing and was able to still do both almost until his final day. He enjoyed playing and later watching curling on TV. He was an avid card player who always had a deck of cards close at hand and would never turn down a game. Don always had a mischievous twinkle in his bright blue eyes. As a young boy Jeff enjoyed playing baseball and taking karate lessons. After high school, Jeff worked at various places including Del Air, Koenders, and Wolverine Oil Refinery. After that, he decided that farming was his passion. With farming came many hours of tinkering in the shop and working on various pieces of machinery. Some of his other past times included cutting grass, trimming trees, and working on his snowmobiles and truck. Jeff enjoyed entertaining his nephews and niece by pulling them around behind the quad on the sled, having water balloon fights and playing ball. When he did get together with friends, it was usually at the shack to play cards. Jeff always had a fire lit on the farm on a nice summer evening or on a sunny winter day when family and friends were around. He enjoyed a good home-made meal including spaghetti and meat sauce, chili, and anything barbecued. Barney (farm dog) was his best buddy. He went everywhere with Jeff including many quad and truck rides to the field. They spent countless hours wrestling on the grass and playing fetch. Sylvia Hoppe <![CDATA[DiscoverHumboldt.com Funeral Announcements (12)

Sylvia Irene Hoppe
March 12, 1943 – March 21, 2024

The death of Sylvia Irene (nee Pray) Hoppe of Humboldt, SK, (and formerly of Fulda, SK), occurred at her residence on Thursday, March 21, 2024. She was 81 years of age. Sylvia was born to Steve and Hilda (nee Monz) Pray on March 12, 1943, in Bruno, SK. She grew up there with her siblings Henry and Lucille. Sylvia attended Cranich Lake School near Bruno until Grade 8. She met Walter Hoppe at a dance at the Starlight Hall, and they have been pretty much inseparable since. They were married on October 15, 1959, in Fulda. Shortly after, Sylvia and Walter moved to Saskatoon, SK. Their son Wayne was born in 1960, and Stanley was born in 1961, thus making their family complete. In 1963, Sylvia and Walter bought Allan Eckl’s land and began creating their legacy on the farm. Sylvia kept busy driving grain trucks, harrow packing, cooking, doing chores, and taking care of their boys. Never one to sit still, there was never a weed to be found or a thing out of place. She’d have the dishes done before you were even finished eating. Men in the family joked that all women need “Grandma Sylvia’s training”. She kept handwritten notes of every important farm detail – the day each field was seeded, as well as the amount of rain, yields, and grain prices, and had them all neatly filed since the year they began farming. In her leisure time, Sylvia enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, sewing, crafting, gardening, fishing, and won many awards and trophies for bowling. In addition, she was a member of the Fulda CWL and the Humboldt and Bruno bowling leagues. Visiting with family was of utmost importance. Her grandkids and great-grandchildren were her most prized possessions. She could be found with a smile, playing with farm toys or delivering donuts and pop to the kids in the field. Sylvia and Walter also loved casino trips to Prince Albert and had just returned from one on the day she passed. Sylvia will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, WALTER Hoppe; two sons, six grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren: WAYNE (Michele) Hoppe and family, Shane (Tricia) [Lexi and Lennox], Kimberly (Dustin) Folk [Abigail and Isabelle], Stephanie [Kynzlee], and Hillary (Jonathon) Kochan [Peyton, Hunter and Aria]; STANLEY (Wendy) Hoppe and family, Scott (Amber) [Rylan, Reid and Brandt], Jamie (Ashley) [Liam, Jaelyn and Kirk]; one sister, Lucille (Ed) Gamola; in-laws: Alma Hoppe, Elvina Pray, and Garlen (Diana) Hoppe; and by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Steve Pray (1981), and Hilda (nee Monz) Pray (1991); two older brothers, Wilfred and Henry Pray; and by brother-in-law, Albert Hoppe. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy. Others taking part were: Shane Hoppe, crossbearer; Jamie Hoppe and Kimberly Folk, scripture readers; Rylan Hoppe, Reid Hoppe, Brandt Hoppe, Peyton Kochan, and Liam Hoppe, intentions; Stephanie Hoppe and Hillary Kochan, giftbearers; Scott Hoppe and Shane Hoppe, eulogists; Shelley Hoppe and Carolyn Galka, memorial table attendants; and Scott Hoppe, urnbearer. Music ministry was provided by Darin Pray, Andrea Pittman and Dayna Keller, as well as the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. Honorary pallbearers were Sylvia’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fulda. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation (Heart & Stroke Foundation, P.O. Box 460, STN K, Toronto, ON, M4P 9Z9) or St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.
