Alfie May's double for Charlton secured a 2-1 win over play-off hopefuls Barnsley at The Valley.
May broke the deadlock with a tremendous free-kick in the 20th minute to fire Charlton ahead.
Adam Phillips grabbed an equaliser for Barnsley eight minutes later from the penalty spot following a handball by Kayne Ramsay.
But, after a dreadful miss from inside the six-yard box by Devante Cole, the Addicks regained the lead in the 40th minute when May curled in a shot from the left corner of the box following a clever dummy by George Dobson.
Chuks Aneke missed a 94th-minute penalty for Charlton after Liam Roberts fouled Tyreece Campbell, and Barnsley assistant coach Jon Stead was sent off for dissent a minute later.
Defeat left Barnsley with two wins from seven matches and Cole without a goal in 12. But the Tykes still only need seven points from their last five games to guarantee a play-off spot.
The Addicks have now gone 11 games without defeat.

Really good result this. Well done lads.
Quite where we'd be without May's 24 goals this season, and without Nathan Jones and his staff don't bare thinking about.
Some really positive posts so far tonight as well, which is good.
Well done everyone.

Well played Addicks. After a poor start to the year the recovery went through 6 of the main contenders without coming away empty handed. Those 10 points are the welcome cushion they now enjoy. Nothing comes easy but an impressive win today. As a Wigan supporter for over 70 years I look forward to Tuesday with trepidation with an in form Addicks. I hope it's a good game.

Brilliant battling from Charlton. The final score could have been 6-1,
but for missed chances. Nathan's influence has given us back our Charlton.M

Why do Charlton's games go on longer than everyone else's? The last game to finish in League One, again. And in the whole of the football league, only Wimbledon's fixture went on longer.
It's getting ridiculous.

The useless ref, played 4mins extra 1st half when no trainer came on, and should have been 8mins 2nd half but ended up playing 10mins, and the trainer came on twice. 🤦♂️

Not really good enough Tykes. Might still get into the playoffs but frankly whats the point. They just dont seem to have spirit (look at LTN) to really push on.

Luton fans keeping an eye on Charlton (and Barnsley, to be fair, your old boys did us proud against Bournemouth).
Anyway, onwards and upwards!

You asked for goals! Good idea. Addicks delivered against a real contender and got those 3 points you were looking for.

Hello Charlton fans; NJ is clearly doing something right but many of us up t’north cannot understand why Fiorini is not in your team; he would add class, technique and score n make goals;….thoughts…

An entertaining game which Charlton deserved to win . I thought the ref was poor giving a penalty to Barnsley when it was clearly ball to hand and allowing far to much added on time ! We look more galvanised as a team under Jones which is great to see . Next season could be ours with some good signings!
